The Oman Inclusion Conference 2025 is a collaborative effort between Al Jisr Foundation, Inspire Educational Consultancy, The International Forum of Inclusion Practitioners  and The Sultan’s School.

This event brings together leading experts from Oman, the region, and beyond to share practical insights and proven strategies for fostering inclusive education in schools in Oman. Join us to contribute to this important initiative, exchange best practices, and highlight your organization’s commitment to creating inclusive learning environments for all students.

Through this conference, we hope to:

  1. Equip educators, school leaders, and practitioners with actionable strategies for creating inclusive classrooms.
  2. Provide an environment for knowledge exchange, professional development, and networking among stakeholders dedicated to inclusive education.
  3. Introduce and promote the Global Inclusive Teaching Initiative (GITI) as well as it’s Arabic equivalent Idmij, as well as IFIP’s resources for effective inclusive education.

Dates: Saturday 1st February and Sunday 2nd February 2025.

Saturday 1st February 2025: Day 1 will commence with Registration at 8:00 AM and end at 3:00 PM. This day will focus on extending participant’s understanding of inclusive, and related systems, strategies and techniques to better inclusive practice.

Sunday 2nd February 2025: Day 2 will commence with Registration at 8:00 AM and end at 2:00 PM.  This day will focus on discussing and answering 5 Key Questions linked to inclusion through Think Tank Sessions as well as other information-sharing sessions.

Keynote Speaker – Daniel Sobel

Mr. Daniel Sobel (FRSA) is the Founder and Chair of the International Forum for Inclusion Practitioners (IFIP) and is also the CEO of Inclusion Expert which is a training and support company working in Education.  He has authored 3 best-selling books, the latest being The Inclusive Classroom.  Daniel has also authored over 90 articles and a successful Master’s program for hundreds of students at the University of Buckingham in Inclusive Educational Leadership.  Daniel is a prolific and sought-after keynote speaker at international conferences and workshops.

Guest Speaker – Janaab Sayyifa Dr. Shariffa Khalid Qais Al-Said

Dr. Shariffa Khalid Al-Said has recently retired as an Educational Expert with the Ministry of Education inMuscat, Oman where she was employed for thirty years. She was seconded to the Ministry’s Specialized Institute for the Professional Training of Teachers in the same capacity. Dr. Shariffa attended Southern Connecticut State University in the US where she was awarded both Bachelor of Science (BS) and Master of Science (MS) degrees, and Columbia University in New York City where she received both Master of Education (EdM) and Doctorate of Education (EdD) degrees.

She has published articles in international journals and delivered presentations at international conferences; served as an international panelist at the Association on Higher Education and Disability (AHEAD) conference in 2012; presented papers at the American Educational Research Association (AERA) Conference in 2013 and 2014; presented a research paper at the Embracing Inclusive Approaches Conference at Universidade do Minho in Braga, Portugal in 2014, and the Dilemmas Conference at Linnaeus University in Vaxjo, Sweden in 2015. In 2018, Dr. Shariffa also presented at the 5th International Conference on Disability & Rehabilitation: Disability Research: Vision & Prospects of Success held in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Dr. Shariffa organized the Gulf Collaboration Symposium for the Advancement of Special Education held in Muscat in 2014 and the 2nd Gulf Collaboration Special Education Conference held in Dubai in October, 2016. She also served as the chairperson for PETRA, which is a therapeutic horseback riding organization in Muscat. Being visually impaired herself since birth, Dr. Shariffa is a staunch advocate for blind undergraduates who are seeking employment.


Guest Speaker – Sarah Johnson

Sarah Johnson (NPQH MA FCCT FRSA) is a representative of the International Forum for Inclusion Practitioners.  She has worked in education for the last twenty years. As a qualified teacher, Sarah has enjoyed roles in mainstream schools, Pupil Referral Units, Alternative Provision and psychiatric in-patient services. Sarah is the author of the book ‘Behaving Together: A Teacher’s Guide to Nurturing Behaviour’.  Sarah’s most recent contribution to supporting schools are her books “All about SEMH” which are practical guides for primary and secondary school teachers to support children.  As a member for the Department of Education’s Alternative Provision stakeholder group, she has supported development of policy such as the recent SEND and AP green paper as well as chairing a range of panels and events within the education sector.

This is specifically only for Saturday 1st February 2025.  A 1-Day Pass cannot be purchased for Sunday 2nd February 2025.  Saturday 1st February will focus on extending participants understanding of inclusion, and related systems, strategies and techniques to better inclusive practice. The 1-Day Pass is meant for all those professionals and individuals in a position to support inclusive practice such as Parents, General Classroom Teachers, Subject Specific Teachers, Teaching Assistants, Learning Support Staff & Leaders, Pastoral Care Staff & Leaders, Senior Leadership Teams, Heads of Schools & Early Years Settings and other agencies such as healthcare professionals.

2-Day Pass (35 OMR)

This pass guarantees participant’s access to both Saturday 1st February and Sunday 2nd February 2025.  Sunday 2nd February will focus on discussing and answering 5 Key Questions linked to inclusion through Think Tank Sessions as well as other information-sharing sessions.  The 2-Day Pass is meant for all those professionals in a position to influence policy and systematic practice within their school/organization such as Ministry of Education/Social Development Official, Heads of Schools & Early Years Settings, Senior Leadership Teams, Heads/Leaders/Coordinators of any Student Support Services in your respective schools.
